Butterfly

Title: Butterfly
Paper: 20 x 20 cm kraft paper
Created: December 2015

During a very interesting conference, I was fiddling with a waterbomb base, and this butterfly popped up in my hands.
The general shape of the finished model is inspired from Michael LaFosse’s butterflies, but the base is very different.
Happy new year everyone!

Black Nightshade

Title: Black Nightshade
Paper: Double-sided kraft paper, 10 cm pentagon
Created: November 2015

There is a colour change for the petals. I prefer the flower in a uniform color though.
The good side of this model is that it does not require much shaping. The design imposes a nice curve at the center of the flower that gives a softer shape to the pointy petals.

ORI_Q Swan

Title: ORI_Q Swan
Paper: Printer paper
Created: November 2015

From an isoceles triangle (120°, 30°, 30°).

After meeting Hoàng Tiến Quyết at the LUO 2015, I kept thinking about his beautiful swans and their graceful curves.
I was fiddling with a scrap piece of paper, and this swan appeared in my hands. It was surprising and fun!

Jar Jar Binks Head

Title: Jar Jar Binks Head
Paper: 70 x 24 cm kraft sheet
Created: November 2015

Originally created for the Jar Jar Binks model. The details are better seen on a larger model. There is room for improvement (the ears are a bit big and the nose is not well shaped), but the overall shape is there. This is an experiment for grafting formal origami on a box-pleated model.

Monkey Mask

Title: Monkey Mask
Paper: 21 x 21 cm printer paper
Created: July 2015

Originally created for the Sun Wukong model. The details are better seen on a larger model. The mask is in 3D, and the inside is concave, so one can effectively wear the mask!

Winged Heart

Title: Winged Heart
Paper: 15 x 15 cm printer paper
Created: May 2015

One of my very first designs. I was trying to fold a coat of arms with wings on it, and it turned out to look like a winged heart. The flap behind can be used to let the heart stand.
Color change can also be introduced by sinking the wings.

Twin Dolphins

Title: Twin Dolphins
Paper: 30 x 15 cm printer paper
Created: April 2015

Inspired from Bernie Peyton’s Polar Swim. I like the idea of folding parts of an animal and leaving the rest to the imagination. The most difficult part is cutting the frames for the dolphins so that it fits the origami!

Yale-type Cylinder Lock Key

Title: Yale-type Cylinder Lock Key
Paper: Double-sided 2,5 x 20 cm kraft sheet
Created: January 2015

Part of my Lucky Charm series. Created as a giveaway for the new year. I wanted to fold a key that looked more modern than the traditional big, medieval keys. It is actually quite hard to design one that has the right proportions (or else, it does not look like a standard key). One can have fun variating the teeth!

Four-Leaf Clover

Title: Four-Leaf Clover
Paper: 15 x 15 cm printer paper
Created: December 2014

Part of my Lucky Charm series. Created as a giveaway for the new year. I wanted four leaves, so I started from a base that I used for rose leaves, which made the model more complicated than necessary. But the result also has a small stem behind. Quite an interesting experimentation!
